At the highest point you can go, turn left into the room, pass the hole in the floor and find the 'Seriously Sexy Shoes' out on the balcony. Proceed through the broken wall then take a left and go into the dark building, go inside and find the stairs, go all the way to the top, jumping the broken sections. Kill another couple of Gnaars and take a right past some sandbags, kill another Gnaar and find a mini health secret behind the corrugated metal on your right. Head down the street, spot a non-hostile 'Khnum' walking by then turn right where a Gnaar breaks down the wall. Jump up with then jump onto the kiosk, then use the ledge to go back and jump up on the pipe above, now jump over to the balcony to grab the secret Parkour 25 armour. Just after the Gnaar you'll see a blue dumpster on your left, go around to the left of it and find some boxes stacked against the building. Īfter reaching street level kill the Gnaar and turn left, find a dark alleyway with a glowing thing on the ground, kill the beheaded soldier and go inside for the mini-secret. This will launch the 'Secret Assistance' shotgun over to your rooftop, back off, grab it, and kill the second Gnaar that spawns with. You have to throw the eye just to the right of this building, arc your throw so that your reticule is where the two higher wires cross. Look in the direction the Female Gnaar came from, you'll see a tall building with balconies and three black wires stretching down from it. LEVEL 1 - SUMMER IN CAIROĪfter the cutscene you'll find yourself on a rooftop unarmed, you'll be attacked straightaway by a 'Female Gnaar', just press to execute her. *Please read ahead periodically, there are many surprises and ambushes, and there are some secrets that can't be obtained if you go too far ahead. You can change any controls and settings you like and it will not affect the achievement. So don't be concerned if you miss a few secrets when you don't know where I'm talking about or you just can't seem to make that jump.įrom the main menu select: Single Player - Campaign - BFE - Summer In Cairo.ĭo not press to customise anything, you must start the game from the 'Serious' difficulty selection. Although you only need '50' of these for the achievement, I will continue to mention the locations of a further '27' of the most significant secrets to help you out. While the co-op is the star of the show, the singleplayer experience doesn’t shine nearly as much solo and definitely suffers from a case of having done it all before. To help you combat this playthrough you'll be finding lots of secret weapons, armour, health, and ammo pick-ups. Ultimately, Serious Sam 3 is a really fun shooter, but I can’t help but feel Croteam could have mixed up the formula a bit. Luckily, it’s possible to restart a level via the in-game voting system. Additionally, more than once I ran into bugs that made completion of a level impossible. While the online play is mostly stable, I was never able to have a lag-free play session, which led to some frustrating deaths. I had some fun with it, but the real draw is the campaign.Įverything’s not all wine and roses with the co-op, however. It’s so much fun, that even though I needed to turn this review in, I replayed the entire campaign mode in one sitting prior to finishing this writeup.Įven though the combat in the campaign mode can feel a bit like survival modes in other games, Croteam has included a separate Survival mode with two maps, and it’s about what you’d expect. It’s like playing DOOM with God mode turned on, and yes, it’s mindless, but it’s an absolute riot and has to be experienced to be believed.

But for my money, the real fun in the game is had when you play on Classic mode with fifteen other players. If you want to coordinate with your teammates and be challenged by the game, you definitely want to be playing on Standard of Coin-Op mode. The minigun is a great way to bring the house down at parties.
